Greener Care Project

About the Greener Care Project
The Greener Care Project is an initiative aimed at making care homes more sustainable and environmentally responsible while maintaining high-quality care for residents.
The Grand Cedars has been recognised for its outstanding contribution to this project and has been shortlisted for a Nursing Times Award.

Our team is passionate about creating a healthier environment for residents and future generations by adopting eco-friendly practices across all aspects of care.

What We’re Doing to Go Green

  • Measuring our Carbon Footprint – Tracking energy use and setting goals to reduce our environmental impact.

  • Switching to LED Lighting – Replacing old bulbs with energy-efficient LED lights to save power.

  • Using Greener Products – Choosing eco-friendly cleaning and care products that are safe for people and the planet.

  • Guardians of Grub – Reducing food waste through careful planning and creative menus.

  • Involving our Team – Encouraging all staff to think and act ‘green’ in their daily work.

  • Community Collaboration – Sharing ideas and progress with other care homes in the region.

Our Commitment
By being part of the Greener Care Project, we are not only enhancing the quality of life for our residents but also contributing to a more sustainable future. Together, we are building a model of care that is kinder to the environment.
